What are HDPE Electrofusion Fittings?


Electrofusion fittings are used to connect HDPE pipes and other plastic pipes that carry liquids. Accessories are available in various sizes. Pipes are easily assembled with fittings. It is possible to change the direction of the pipes or close their ends.

The Electrofusion of HDPE uses electrofusion fittings with small copper wires embedded inside the fittings. An electrofusion processor is then used to run current through these wires, which creates heat that melts the HDPE inside the joint and outside the pipe, resulting in a homogeneous bond and leak-free joint.

All HDPE Electrofusion Fittings must be installed by a qualified and experienced technician.

Another form of welding polyethylene (polyethylene or PE) is the electrofusion system, in which the heating element is embedded in a PE connector socket. These sockets form part of a coupling or other fitting and require electrical input from a welding machine to create a welded joint.

*Electrofusion splices consist of a polyethylene body with coils and terminals embedded in the manufacturing stage. When charging through the terminals using the electrofusion control unit, the coils are heated and then transferred to fittings and pipes.

* Heat and the resulting pressure cause surfaces to melt and bond at the molecular level. If the correct procedure is followed, the fitting and pipe will not separate at the fusion.


The difference between HDPE Electrofusion Fittings and another fusion welding


The difference between HDPE Electrofusion Fittings is the method of butt fusion welding. The main difference is how the connection is heated. In the fusion welding method, heaters are used to heat the pipe surface and polyethylene joints, but in electrofusion welding, the heat is generated internally and by means of an electric current. In polyethylene pipes, electrofusion-induced weld strength is greater than head-to-head fusion welds. Electrofusion splices are a common fitting used to connect two polyethylene pipes to each other.

Electrofusion welding is a type of pipe welding and polyethylene pipe fittings in which there are special connections with resistance wires to create the welding melting temperature. The current is passed through the electrofusion welding device and sent to both ends of the connection through the control box. As with thermal fusion (butt) welding, various saddle and socket joints are used in the electrofusion method. The electrofusion boiling process is the same for most electrofusion joints.
